Evidence-Based Patient Education
At Drivetime-Patient, we believe patients deserve the same standard of accurate, responsible and evidence-based education that healthcare professionals receive.
For almost 40 years, Drivetime has produced educational audio programs for Australian healthcare professionals. Drivetime-Patient has been developed with the same commitment to quality, professionalism and editorial responsibility – designed specifically for patients and families.
Our goal is to provide clear, balanced and practical health education that helps patients better understand their condition, treatment options and healthcare journey.
The editorial standards and processes we apply to healthcare professional education are also applied to Drivetime-Patient. We are experienced in working within the strict professional and educational standards required for medical content and apply those same principles of accuracy, balance, referencing and editorial responsibility to patient education.
Our Editorial Approach
All Drivetime-Patient modules are independently developed through collaboration between Drivetime’s experienced medical writers and Australian doctors, specialists and healthcare professionals with relevant clinical expertise in the topic being discussed.
Each module follows a structured editorial process designed to ensure content is accurate, balanced, evidence-based and suitable for patients.
This process includes:
- Development of fully referenced discussion guides to help ensure all key topics and practical considerations are appropriately covered
- Review of current clinical guidelines, published medical evidence and reputable healthcare resources
- Professional editing and editorial review of all content
- Removal of information or claims that cannot be appropriately verified or referenced
- Clinical review by participating healthcare professionals prior to release
- Inclusion of full reference lists and supporting patient resources where appropriate
We are committed to presenting medical information clearly and responsibly, without unnecessary medical jargon while maintaining accuracy and balance.
We do not create content based on personal opinions, trends or unsupported claims. Our aim is to provide information that is medically responsible, trustworthy and supported by current evidence.
Evidence and Referencing
Drivetime-Patient content is developed using recognised clinical guidelines, published medical evidence and reputable healthcare resources available at the time of production.
Our goal is to help patients understand the evidence, treatment approaches and practical considerations surrounding a condition in a balanced and responsible way.
References used in the development of each module are provided in a full reference list alongside the content, together with accompanying patient resources where appropriate.
Modules are reviewed and updated to reflect changes in medical evidence, guidelines or clinical practice.
Medicine continues to evolve, and patients should always seek personalised advice from their GP, specialist or healthcare professional regarding their own care.
Editorial Independence and Sponsorship
Some Drivetime-Patient modules receive financial support from healthcare organisations, pharmaceutical companies or medical device companies to help fund production.
Commercial support allows us to produce and make these educational modules available to patients. However, sponsorship does not influence the medical content, conclusions or educational messaging within a module.
Sponsors do not control the editorial process or educational content.
Commercial support may help determine which educational modules are feasible to produce, but all content is independently developed by Drivetime and the participating healthcare professionals.
Where commercial support exists, it will be clearly disclosed.
Trusted Contributors
All Drivetime-Patient modules are presented by experienced Australian doctors, specialists and healthcare professionals with relevant clinical expertise in the topic being discussed.
Contributor names, qualifications and professional credentials are provided alongside each module so listeners can clearly understand who is presenting the information.
We collaborate with healthcare professionals who have appropriate experience and expertise to help ensure our content is accurate, balanced and clinically responsible.
Professional Standards
We apply the same editorial principles used across Drivetime’s long-standing healthcare professional education programs:
- Evidence-based information
- Responsible and balanced communication
- Clear medical referencing
- Respect for patients and healthcare professionals
- Commitment to accuracy and clarity
Our aim is to create trusted health education that patients can listen to with confidence.
Important Information
Drivetime-Patient content is intended for educational purposes only and should not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
